The office of United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss announced on Saturday that she would meet with US President Joe Biden at the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. They were supposed to meet at Downing Street on Sunday.
There was no explanation for the delay in the leaders’ first meeting since Truss became prime minister and won the Conservative leadership election. The United Kingdom stated it would be a “full bilateral meeting.”
The notable monarch’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey in front of 2,000 family members, heads of state, and European leaders. Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama are not on the list.

That Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman was invited to a funeral has sparked outrage.
Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist for the Washington Post, was assassinated in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October 2018. Last year, the Biden administration released a declassified intelligence report that directly linked Prince Mohammed, also known as MBS, to Khashoggi’s murder.
“The crown prince should not be allowed to be a part of this mourning and should not be allowed to stain her memory or use this time of mourning to seek legitimacy and normalization,” tweeted Hatice Cengiz, a human rights activist who was engaged to Khashoggi.
Biden is one of many world leaders in London ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral on Monday. On Sunday, Truss will still meet with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
On Wednesday, Biden will address the United Nations, General Assembly. Because of the Queen’s funeral, his speech was delayed by a day. The day of the funeral is now a bank holiday in the United Kingdom.

Over 2,000 police officers across the country have been called in to assist Scotland Yard.
Following the funeral, the royal hearse will transport the Queen’s body to Windsor Castle, west of London, for burial.
The Queen will then be buried alongside her late husband, Philip, her parents, and her younger sister. There will be no one else.
